Races
Every race fields the same five tiers — two lines of infantry, a caster, a heavy unit and an elite — built from one tier line and multiplied by the race's own line below. The Human is the baseline: ×1 on everything. Every unit →
Against the Human
| Race | Cost | Attack | Defence | Speed | Magic | Training time | Upkeep |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | |
| ×1 | ×0.85 | ×1 | ×1.2 | ×1.3 | ×1 | ×1 | |
| ×1.15 | ×0.8 | ×1.3 | ×0.85 | ×0.85 | ×1 | ×1 | |
| ×1.15 | ×1.25 | ×1 | ×1 | ×0.8 | ×1 | ×1 | |
| ×0.5 | ×0.7 | ×0.7 | ×0.85 | ×0.5 | ×0.5 | ×1.2 |
Cost is the price of every unit; training time is how long one takes, so under ×1 trains faster; upkeep is the hourly bill. Speed is the march, magic every body's share of a force's magic.
What each pays with and eats
| Race | Food | Wood | Iron | Upkeep, tiers 1–5 | Makes more | Science |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Human | 1 | 1 | 1 | food · food · gold · gold · gold | +25 % food | first level of every track free |
| Elf | 0.5 | 0.5 | 2 | food · food · gold · gold · gold | +25 % wood | Magic ×0.8, Military ×1.2 |
| Dwarf | 2 | 0.5 | 0.5 | food · food · gold · gold · gold | +25 % iron | Economy ×0.8, Magic ×1.2 |
| Orc | 1.5 | 1 | 0.5 | food · food · gold · gold · gold | plunder ×1.25 | Military ×0.8, Magic ×1.2 |
| Undead | 0 | 1.5 | 1.5 | iron · iron · gold · gold · gold | +25 % gold (the tax) | Magic ×0.8, Economy ×1.2 |
The cost mix shares a unit's price out over food, wood and iron — each row sums to the same, so a race pays as much as any other, with different things; gold joins from tier 3. Every race makes more of what it sells and leans on what it buys: the merchant is half the game.
Human
Plays balanced, the safe pick: sells food, buys what it lacks; the first level of every science free.
The merchant's fee ×0.5: this race trades most.
Elf
Plays fast, fragile, the best casters: sells wood, buys iron; Magic cheaper, Military dearer.
Dwarf
Plays dear, slow, tough, poor at magic: sells iron, buys food; Economy cheaper, Magic dearer.
Orc
Plays hits hard, eats, no magic to speak of: takes more in plunder, buys food; Military cheaper, Magic dearer.
Undead
Plays half the price, twice the training, paid in iron and gold, slow: sells gold from its tax, buys wood and iron; Magic cheaper, Economy dearer.
